New Mexican Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  Dash salt
2/3 cup water
3-1/3 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cinnamon sticks or dash ground nutmeg
   
Combine cocoa, sugar, ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, salt and water in 3-quart saucepan. Cook, stirring occasionally, over medium heat until cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Add milk and vanilla. Heat to simmering. Whip mixture with rotary beater or portable electric mixer until frothy. Pour into four mugs. Place one cinnamon stick in each mug or sprinkle each serving lightly with nutmeg.
