slices day-old, firm-textured white bread (1 small loaf)
1-3/4
cups milk
1
package (8 ounces) mixed dried fruit, cut into small pieces
1/2
cup chopped nuts
1
medium apple, chopped
1/3
cup packed brown sugar
1/4
cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
1
egg, lightly beaten
1
teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4
teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4
teaspoon ground cloves
Slow Cooker Directions
1. Tear bread, with crusts, into 1- to 2-inch pieces; place in slow cooker. Pour milk over bread; let soak 30 minutes. Stir in dried fruit, nuts and apple.
2. Combine remaining ingredients in small bowl; pour over bread mixture. Stir well to blend. Cover; cook on LOW 3-1/2 to 4 hours or until skewer inserted into center of pudding comes out clean.
Note
Chopping dried fruits can be difficult. To make the job easier, cut the fruit with kitchen scissors. Spray the scissors or a chef's knife with nonstick cooking spray before chopping, to prevent sticking.
