Macaroon Brownies
Makes 24 brownies

Ingredients

package DUNCAN HINES® Family-Style Chewy Fudge Brownie Mix
|
|
2
|
egg whites
|
|
1/2
|
cup granulated sugar
|
|
1/4
|
teaspoon almond extract
|
|
1
|
cup finely chopped almonds
|
|
1
|
cup flaked coconut
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13×9-inch pan.

2. Prepare brownies as directed on package for cake-like brownies. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until set. Place egg whites in medium mixing bowl. Beat at high speed with electric mixer until foamy and double in volume. Beat in sugar gradually, beating until meringue forms firm peaks. Add almond extract. Fold in almonds and coconut. Spread over warm brownies. Bake at 350°F for 12 to 14 minutes or until meringue is set and lightly browned. Cool completely in pan. Cut into bars.

Tip
Spread the meringue to the edges of the pan to prevent meringue from shrinking.
