Yield: Makes 9 servings
Ingredients:
1-1/2
cups all-purpose flour

cup unsweetened applesauce

3/4
cup packed light brown sugar

1/4
cup shortening

1
egg

1
teaspoon vanilla

3/4
teaspoon baking soda

3/4
teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4
teaspoon baking powder

1/4
teaspoon salt

1/4
teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2
cup toasted chopped walnuts

1/2
cup raisins (optional)

Powdered sugar



Preparation:
1.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 9-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.

Beat flour, applesauce, brown sugar, shortening, egg, vanilla, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in large bowl with electric mixer at low speed 30 seconds. Increase speed to high; beat 3 minutes. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
