Poached Dried Fruit Compote

Poached Dried Fruit Compote


Ingredients
8 ounces mixed dried fruit, such as apricots, pears, apples and prunes
1-1/2 cups water
1/2 cup white Riesling or Rhine wine*
2 cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
*White grape juice can be substituted.
   
Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered, 12 to 15 minutes or until fruit is tender. Cool. Discard cinnamon sticks and cloves. Serve warm, at room temperature or chilled in individual dessert bowls. Garnish with additional cinnamon sticks, if desired.
